The 2026 QBio/PEB Poster Session.

The Yale 2026 QBio/PEB Symposium gathered on Friday faculty, postdocs and graduate students from the wide quantitative biology community at Yale. The day-long event featured a keynote address by Victor Sourjik, Director of Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, as well talks from QBio faculty, graduate students, postdocs and an afternoon poster session. 

Sourjik, who is the Director of the Department of Systems and Synthetic Microbiology at the Max Planck, gave a talk titled “Physics meets physiology: multilevel regulation of bacterial motility ”. The full schedule of speakers and talks can be found here.

PEB Certificates were also awarded to the graduate students who had completed all the certificate requirements by the end of this academic year.

This year, 24 graduate students in PEB finished the certificate requirements including graduate coursework, as well as professional development workshops and service to the PEB/QBio community. 

Six graduate students that picked up their certificate at this year’s QBio/PEB Symposium were Alex Calabrese, Allison Cairns, Lucy Sullivan, Nicholas Weaver, Raibat Srker, and Yue Yu.

The Symposium also included the announcement of the Excellence in Service Award to PEB graduate students who had done most in the academic year to foster a community in QBio/PEB. This year’s winners were lam Vo (advised by Thierry Emonet) and Jake Sumner (advised by Corey O’Hern).
